Day Three, Some Elephant and Unicorns, A Tomb, and a Couple of Steps Later

So today, we went to the Ming Xiao Ling Mausoleum, where the founder of the Ming Dynasty was buried, Hongwu Emperor. We first walked through a entrance of animals that supposedly protects the dead from any harm in the future. Most of these animals are spiritual, such as unicorns.
Making our way through the guarded entrance…..

Okay, funny story while we were here: I tried to continue to "emerge" myself into the culture. As these guys past us, they continued to stare (because we were foreign). I decided if they were going to stare, I'd give something for them to stare at. I said hi to them and one of the guys continued to stare for a couple of seconds…. Until he snapped back into reality and made a seizure movement. It was like he got electrocuted! He didn't notice what happened and suddenly realized we could see him staring at us! It gave everyone a laugh!

And our last moments in the tomb memorial before we're off to see the city wall of Nanjing!

*Excuse our rambling, just absorb in the culture.

Our first stop in Nanjing is the city wall. Late at night, it was very pretty!

These dark corridors were actually storage rooms of where soldiers stored their weapons

Later, we went to a market place to see the locals and "experience more of the culture." Tomorrow we're off to Wuhu!
